slow image/text fade

I've noticed in the new version of zionworx that the image fade is very slow. I'm running on a 1GHz laptop so there is no particular reason why it should be so slow.

Then I discovered one of my images worked much faster than any of the others.
The answer was the image was the same size as my screen. hence it wasn't combining the calculations of scaling the image with the fade.

The moral of this tale is make all your background images the same size as your screen resolution.

could this be changed in the program, so that once the image has been scaled it "saves" it so it doesn't have this inefficiency when fading?
also can someone explain this better than me - i dont explain things very well.
