Backup and Import Wizzards

Postby gagar » Sun Mar 11, 2007 4:52 am

At our church we have the main computer (the one at the church) as the most up-to-date computer, and all the operators have zionworx on the home computers for when they are doing the service. So they can put in any new songs in and then import them in to zionworx at the church but some of the operators get a bit confused when copying the song database and the saved services.
So it would be really good if we can have a step by step wizard for importing and exporting song and service databases as an option. to make it alot easyer for the oprators who aren't all that good with computers (mostly the older people).

There is already a wizard for importing (except its not called a wizard just Database - import). Can't really see what is missing from it, as it shows available/selected/not imported.
As for export, you don't need to export from your church one, just copy the data directory off zionworx and then the other person can overwrite their own.
The church pc has to be the main database (The Database), and everything else should run from that. I would recommend that you only have 2 (perhaps 3) people who are the administrators and they do all the imports/exports. If you have too many people involved, you risk compromising The Database and just have multiple varieties. Also if you have people who you say "aren't all that good with computers", you are running further risks of data loss/corruption.

The service file is just an xml file, don't people just copy the file they have created at home into a directory such as 'Services 2006' or 2007? I should have thought that was straight forward for someone you are expecting to be an operator.
