Multiple Displays

Postby AliBy » Thu Oct 20, 2005 9:17 am

We have a couple of Projectors, two LCD panels and about four TV's.
We have a pc with two Nvida cards. We use one vga out fo the primary monitor and the other outputs - 2x vga and 1x video - as the secondary to feed the projectors, LCD's and TV's respectively.
We send the same signal to each "type" as they are all the same models etc. It would be really beneficial if you could have ZionWorx to send different configurations to each display output.

Ã? Font (Size, Colour, Type)
Ã? Positioning of text (L, R, Top Bottome etc)
Ã? Backgrounds (colour, gradient, image)

THese are other options, but maybe difficult to control and impliment ...
Ã? Number of lines (may be a little dificult to change each screen -forget this one unless someone has a bright idea)
Ã? Transitions etc may also be unesesary

If anyone has other ways this canbe done (one the PC) let me know.

Example from Lyrix

Extract From Lyrix Website

Multiple video outputs. One operator can easily control several video screens and display boards simultaneously. LyriX can use each display to full advantage, with different text and graphics on different screens. Worship leaders, musicians, mothers in the babiesÂ? room and the congregation could all see different things. Attributes such as colour scheme, screen layout and font choice can be stored separately for each display.

VLC Media Player

Postby AliBy » Mon Mar 27, 2006 11:53 pm

We have simplified our setup for a number of reasons and now simply have two OUTPUT displays: the Projector and a TV in the toddlers room.

We generally display a video clip (for anouncements and/or feedback on some trip that has taken place), live video feed and then ZionWorx Lyrics of course.

I discovered an opensource program called VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) which provides a single interface for playing music (MP3's), the videos and projecting the camera feed. VLC projects all the video onto the secondary screens (which are Nvidia cloned Analogue Projector and TV) full screen and adjusts the pcture for each resolution accordingly (the projector is at 1024x768, whilst the TV is at 800x600). So no video is cropped on the TV. It uses DirectX's Directshow for some of it's functionality.

THe problem I have is that Zionworx crops the TV and you only see half the words there. ONly if I set both the projector and the tv to 800x600 do they both show the entire screen.

Why does VLC fit the displays correctly regardless of indepenadnt resolution? Is is possible to impliment the same code into Zionworx? If so the possibility of multiple display support is good.

Setting up VLC to display in secondary monitor

Postby AliBy » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:53 pm

See http://forum.videolan.org/ for some good help with VLC
    1. Firstly update VLC to version 0.85 as it has fixed a number of the bugs in v0.84
    2. Create a new shortcut so that there are no options after vlc.exe
    3. Reset VLC's preferences (Then restart VLC)
    4. "Settings - Preferences" ... tick "Advanced Options"
    5. Set display device in "Preferences/Video/Output Modules/DirectX". You will have to press "Refresh List" then select "\.\\DISPLAY2"
    6. Set "Full Screen" in "Preferences/Video"
    7. Unitck "Embed video in Interface" under "Interface/Main Interfaces/wxWidgets"
    8. Click "Save"
    9. Restart VLC
