Recording Module

Postby AliBy » Tue Aug 10, 2004 12:28 pm

We use our PC to record our meetings so that we can share our teaching, worship or songs etc with those who are unable to get to the meetings or wish to listen again.
We currently use MP3DirectCut and record straight to MP3 at CD quality. (It saves space, we write to audio CD and we can create backups of MP3). A friend of mine is a programmer and has modified Lyricue - http://www.adebenham.com/lds/ (previously called LDS which is kind of a Linux version of Zionworx) to include a recording bar at the bottom. You can see the record levels and it has a few controls (record level, start stop pause, file name etc). It all sits neatly at the bottom of the screen on the song projection control window the same sort of height of a tool bar.

I think it would be great if something like this is included, this will make Zionworx all inclusive and a complete system in one, all accessible on the Zionworx desktop rather than tiling windows.
Some sources of open source code is:
RecMP3 - http://sourceforge.net/projects/recmp3/
RadioRecord - http://radiorecord.sourceforge.net/

Under the GPL your friend is legally obliged to release his source code modification of Lyricue. I presume that he has already done this either via his own site or by resubmitting it to lyricue. Could you please advise us of which it is so that we can incorporate his code into the development pool.

kind regards

The "modified" software is actually a compilation incorporating Lyricue, brec, Audacity and qcombust.
See http://ogilvie.co.za/content.php?article.12
You can contact him via email at cyan@users.sourceforge.net
he will send you the latest version of the code. I think part of his objective is to create this software to run on any platform.
