I will post it here when I find more. Anything specific you are looking for? "Youthy" is a bit too subjective for me to figure it out. Drop me a mail and perhaps I have some that I could share. I have a few which I am going to post later but I have no time at the moment to retouch the pictures.

Hi all,
Thought I'd add a link to some of the jpg's we use. They're at:
http://st-bridgets.org.uk/projector
It'd be good to build an online resource (maybe through this forum) for a database of good quality, royalty free, images and also a songs list (or would this be an infringement of copyright?)
Just wanted to add that since October we've been using Zionworx and it's been amazing - I push it fairly hard, but it's still going strong Image
Well done to all involved!

I am in the process on working on new sections to the site.

This will include sections for each type of pictures.

Feel free to email all pictures to myself at the address above.

Edd

Another site I found with lots (millions) of photos is: http://www.webshots.com. Although photos at this site is primarily for wallpaper, I found that one can click on a thumbnail, it will then display a larger picture, usually 800x600, one can easily download it by right click over the picture with the mouse. You can then save it as a JPG format. I have posted some of my pictures on webshots and all Zionworx users can use them royalty free.

Couple of Questions:

Since most images have copyright issues - will there be any way of tracking copyright/left and other imaging licences (eg GPL etc.) as part of this new site implimentation Ed?

Just out of interest - does anyone know if version 3 will include support for SVG files? I've been using them quite a bit and they are very suitable for presentations on multiple resolutions.

kind regards

Hi Diceman,

We weren't planning on supporting SVG (this is scalable vector graphics, right?) in v3.0...

Would anybody else out there find this useful :?:

Cheers,

Christian

SVG

http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/

Gnome 2.6 supports it nicely as does Adobe Illustrator.

Incidentally Christian - what method does Zionworx use for addressing different screen spaces (which library calls etc). A couple of us are interested in getting zionworx running under X using WINE, and wondered which direction to head in.

kind regards

Be Careful of Copyright Issues

Hi,

I have just been reading the Terms & Conditions at the Webshots site. It explicitly forbids the use of the images in PowerPoint presentations and the copying into other software packages. I guess that means that the images can't be used for Zionworx.

Also, the images at http://www.michaelaw.com are also protected - the site says they are not to be copied.

Sorry to put a dampener on things! I agree with Rob that we need a resource of royalty-free images that we can happily use without infringing any copyrights.

This is something I am working on. 8)

:D People who have created images can email them to me to be included in the background area so long as they own the copyright. :D

 Copyright is a serious thing as I am involved in this for recording and studio work.

It can also be costly this is why we want users with the ability to create photos or grahics for use with zionworx to include details we will make sure all the backgrounds have the relevent creator information.

This will then proceed to have zionworx terms and conditions of backgrounds.

Free to use for none commercial use. :D
Commercial use is prohibited.

Edd Stonham :D

Since you need to include copyright data anyway, why not use SVG, it's XML based so it would be easy to composite using PHP and a webform with which to collect the copyright data.

It's a bit of a means to an end but SVG support would be lovely - please - pretty please :-)

Or I'm sure there could be a more sophisticated way of altering Jpg meta-tags from PHP with a pluggin to include copyright data (will the php code automatically resize the images to sensible sizes?).

Hi Nick,

Indeed copyright is a serious issue.

Regarding the pictures on Webshots, the owner of the picture has the exclusive right to their works. This is my uderstanding from reading further down the T&C. Therefore, what I have done is to ask the owner if I could could them. If they agree, I will proceed to use the pictures.
