Powerpoint image smaller than full screen

Postby Elfin Spectre » Mon Jan 05, 2009 8:49 pm

Ever since we've been using Zionworx (18 months), I've noticed that the projected PowerPoint image appears cropped i.e. a different aspect ratio, compared to the lyrics screen which fills the whole screen.

The thumbnails and operator view of ppt slides appear in the normal ratio. Is this just a feature, a projector issue or is there something we can do about it?

We use v2.6 on Windows XP Pro and are about to upgrade to PowerPoint 2007. The projector is an NEC LT380.

What is the resolution of the second monitor in Windows? Or is the projector a widescreen resolution projector? Also for reference (as it might help), what is the resolution of screen #1 in Windows as well. PowerPoint also has a "Set Up Show" option from the Slide Show menu. Make sure that the setting is set to exactly the resolution of the projector (it is probably set to Current Resolution, which is typically not widescreen). Note that some presentations may have different settings set within them - so check on all presentations that exhibit this issue is you find that you fix it on some and not others.

Many thanks

A tweak to the resolution of monitor 2 solved the problem. Incidentally, it realigned the previously incomplete copyright information bar and increased the size of the projected lyrics (without altering the defaults).

The only downside; the larger text meant having to reformat lyrics to eliminate orphan words. A small price.

There is an option in the latest version to stop orphaned words automatically. See version 2.6.49, and File > Preferences > General tab > Text Line Wrap Position. Set this to 75% or 80% and it will stop orphaned words.

... and so it does! That will save ages on a Friday evening when I'm loading Sunday's songs.

ZionWorx just gets better.
