Hi I know this is in the wrong place but there isn't a forum for things like this. I want to know if the email I have recieved is genuine. The link in it isn't a zionworx.org.uk link and I don't wish to give my details away to spammers.

Hello,

You are receiving this email because you once registered as a user of ZionWorx song display software way back in 2005.
That was a long time ago, and perhaps you're not interested in hearing from us anymore?

So, because we respect your inbox, we’re asking you to follow the link below if you want to stay on our mailing list:

Otherwise, just delete this message and you’ll be automatically removed from our list. Job done.

Thanks very much for your time.

Hi folks,

Yes, it's totally genuine!

Sorry for the obscurity, there was no other way to do it. We're moving to MailChimp to send out bulk email but they have very strict rules about people 'opting in' to mailing lists (which is good). Unfortunately when I uploaded 20,000 email addresses collected over 10 years they had a fit and the MailChimp police were all over me!

The only resolution was to ask users to reconfirm their email addresses and desire to be on the mailing list. These 'please confirm' emails had to be sent outside of their servers, and so we had to resort to internet email accounts to get the job done. The URL is just the one that they provide for the sign-up form, I don't know why it looks so strange!

Anyway, I hope that puts yours and anybody else's mind at ease.

Thanks,
Christian.

Many thanks for the confirmation, it's good to know that it's being done responsibly. I wouldn't expect any less from you but you never know with spammers.

I can shed some light on the short eepurls. They're a way of shortening urls for use on things like twitter but they also have the effect of completely masking the final destination address. It actually explains just that on the eepurl homepage. http://www.eepurl.com/

Thanks for that, Christian. :D

I have now received 3 or 4 e-mails with different years mentioned  , so I was starting to think it was genuine  ... hadn't realised I had registered so many times :? ... must have lost a couple of registration e-mails along the way ...

Thanks again for confirming the genuine-ness of those e-mails. :D
