Does the zionworx installer have any switches to allow silent setup? I want to make an unattended setupcd for windows so if anything goes wrong, people can just put the disk in,and windows and all associated programs will install, and then it just be ready for use...

Have you considered creating an emergency restore CD like most computer manufactures use? might be simpler than creating all those setups for the apps (and would definately be faster to restore in the case of a disk failure)

mmhmm, but afaik that software costs, this method is free, and so far we've built the whole system on the cheap for £50 (cost of the ex reuters computer with windows licence...)

also I'm bored and want something to play with...

There are many GPL or Opensource "ghost" clones out there, here are a few:

Driveimage XML
G4U - network restore
restore CD/DVD
Clonezilla, the opensource clone system * I like this one

Just consider it. If they do not meet your needs...of course you can use a script to install all the apps during reinstallation like you were planning.

Have fun and good luck with whatever you choose

this method creates a windows XP install CD with all the software you want included... so if the computer goes wrong, you can just put the CD in and it will reinstall windows with no questions asked... because you've specified the information in a config file....

"This Method"

Sounds great, but I am still clueless as to what "This method" is. The suspense is killing me.
Mike, where can I learn how to do the same sort of thing?
