Importing from Word document

Postby Paul Childs » Mon May 24, 2004 12:30 pm

Hi,

Is there any way to import a large collection of songs I have in a Word document?

Each song has its own page. The copyright info at the top of the page and then the rest of the text is below it.

Thanks

Sorry Paul, there is no way to do this because ZionWorx has no way of knowing what the 'format' is. Is it your own collection of songs, or a commerical collection?

Songs of Fellowship

Postby NACarter » Wed May 26, 2004 8:40 am

Hi Paul,

If your Word document is one of the Songs of Fellowship documents from their CD-ROMs then you are in luck. I wrote a Word macro that converted the SoF volumes 1&2 and volume 3 documents supplied on the SoF CD-ROMs into text files in a suitable format for PowerWorship (which we use in addition to Zionworx). I have also a Python program to convert the PowerWorship formatted files into a database (text format) that can be imported into Zionworx (I used Access for this).

If you would like a copy of the macro and Python program then please let me know and I'll email them. You would need to have the original SoF files, so that copyright is not infringed.

Program and macro

Postby Paul Childs » Wed May 26, 2004 10:46 am

Hi Nick,

That would be great. I do have the original discs, so no copyright problems there then.

However, my work firewall would block your program and macro, so I'll have to wait just a short while until my home email is set up.

I'll let you know as soon as it is.

Cheers.

Ok, Paul. I can zip the files up - will they get through your firewall then? If not I'll wait to hear from you.

Paul,

Is it possible you could email me the package as this would be handy as a download tool maybe on the website for other users who have purchased SOF and would like to convert the disc.

This would make it easy to avoid the copyright issues of supplying SOF 1,2,3 with Zionworx.

Send to the email address in the left hand menu.

Firewall

Postby Paul Childs » Wed May 26, 2004 3:39 pm

Hi Nick,

Thanks, but they won't get through. Firewall scans inside zip files.

Thanks anyway.

Email Address?

Postby NACarter » Thu May 27, 2004 9:30 am

Ok, I'll email it all to Edd (I guess your email was directed to me and not to Paul). I couldn't find the email address you were talking about - what left-hand menu?

Importing Songs of Felloeship Word Files into ZioonWorx

Postby David Clarke » Thu Aug 12, 2004 9:55 pm

Hi Nick,
My name's dave. I read your correspondance re. macros to allow importing songs into the software. May I request that you send me the macros please?

I have a firewall so I may need the files to be zipped.

Thanks

Dave

What's Your Email Address Dave

Postby NACarter » Thu Sep 23, 2004 12:59 pm

Hi Dave,

If you send me a PM with your email address I'll email it to you. I have already sent you a PM asking this, but have had no response. Perhaps you don't need it anymore.
