Tile doesn't seem to work

Tile setting for an image doesn't seems to work. Is this meant for specific type of background only? Tile option is seldom used. I was just trying it out last night.

I also noticed that sometimes the thumbnails populate only 6 holes when there are more than eight available on the screen. This is intermittent and I do not know how to reproduce it.

it just depends on the size of image.

If the image is small it will do more if it is bigger it will do less.

I always use strech with image sizes around the same res of the screen I use.
