Male/Female singing

Postby davidamcallister » Sun Feb 13, 2005 5:47 pm

In my Church, we often have some lines sung by men, others by women, and others by both together.

Is it possible to change the colour of the lines to help those not familiar with the hymn (eg male - blue, female - red, both-together - green)?

At present I watch one of the members of the congregation whose neck colours red when he sings; but now that I have responsibilities to operate Zionworx that would prove more difficult.

yours sincerely

To my knowledge it isn't possible to set different colours for different lines on the same song. However why can't you set the song out as follows:-

Men: blahblahblah
Women: blahblahblah
Men: blahblahblah
All: blahblahblah
Men: blahblahblah
Women:blahblahblah
All:blahblahblah

or even

M: blahblahblah
W: blahblahblah
M: blahblahblah
A: blahblahblah
M: blahblahblah
W:blahblahblah
A:blahblahblah

Obviously insert lyrics in the "blahblahblah" bit!!!
Just a thought!?!

this works for us:

men (women)
blah blah blah (blah blah blah)
blah blah blah (blah blah blah)
blah blah blahblah (blah blah blahblah)

in powerpoint we would use three seperate colors for men/women/together and in some songs we would have four parts and would use four colors. it would be nice to have that capability again but this sacrifice is neccessary, i assume.

i guess it depends what kind of a church you come from really. in a nice free, open, friendly church where all people are equal then it would be as follows:

M: i will worship
W: i will worship
M: with all of my heart
W: with all of my heart

whereas in a church that prefers to have women set to one side it may be better to lay it out as:

M: i will worship                 W: i will worship
M: with all of my heart                W: with all of my heart

or, finally, in a church where women are not only put to one side, but are actually held in a separate area, then one would consider using parentheses as such:

M: i will worship                (W: i will worship)
M: with all of my heart                 (W: with all of my heart)
