Sermon recording??

Postby pbc_avcontroller » Thu Oct 28, 2004 2:50 pm

Does anyone have any ideas what the best method would be to record our weekly sermons for relaying via our website? I appreciate that this is not strictly related to Zionworx but thought maybe some of the other users might have some ideas.

Should any software be required, is there any free/shareware that could be useful?

Regards

Sermon Recording

Postby frink » Sun Oct 31, 2004 11:08 am

Hiya,

We record our sermons on casette tape for easy duplication for those who want it and we record video on a Mini-DV camera which I then transfer to a PC and export as Windows Media and Real Media for the website.

The website then has a database driven front end that is almost-finnished ;-)

Look on http://www.twynholm.org for info.

Recording a sermon

Postby kingobvious » Mon Nov 01, 2004 4:21 pm

Hi,
I use a program on a computer called Audacity that is free but you can only record in audio not in video. You can do some editing in this program also.
You can get this from http://audacity.sourceforge.net

You will need a lame encoder to record mp3 files since it is free.

This can be found in the tutorials section at http://www.edhsonline.org/other/audacity/audacity_lame_install.html

Thank you for the recording advice and comments about our website (my design -- my own website is http://www.isa4031.freeserve.co.uk). I have downloaded the audacity and lame encoder files and will try this out. We have our 107th anniversary next week so I might try it then -- the guest speaker is a past Minister of the Church although the length of the sermon might be a problem.

Dan, How long are your Churches sermons? -- what file size is produced right after the recording? The notebook we have has a 20Gb HDD, I shouldn't think it would use all that up in one go although I have heard that sound files can be quite large.

Leigh, thank you for your advice on Mini-DV recording -- for now I think we will take one step at a time and stick to the audio recording (hoping I can get Dan's suggesetions to work for us).

Regards

Ewan

Hi ewan

When I record the worship and the sermons the largest file in .mp3 form was
80 mb and will easly fit on a Compact disk. I dont think that you will have a
problem with room since you can make relatively small files by saving them only as mp3.

Howerver will take more room if you use .wav files which can be played in most cd players.

EZTracker was developed for recording sermons, I haven't tried it myself though so I can't comment how good it is.
